Podiatry 101 what you need to know about
American Podiatric Medical Association, founded in the year 1912, the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA), today represents approximately 15,000 doctors of podiatric drug (DPM). The headquarters of the Association are located in Bethesda, Maryland. With a staff of about 60 employees the association assists the 53 societies scattered throughout the United States, in order to improve Health and ankle of each individual. Their attempt is to achieve this objective by providing information through a toll free number, Internet and brochures.
Podiatrists reach one year of undergraduate four before attending an accredited, four courses a year in medical school. These schools are: Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences Medical, California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt College, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery-Des Moines-Osteopathic Medical Center of the University, Dr. Scholl William M College of Podiatric Medicine at the University of Medicine Rosalind Franklin & Science, New York College of Podiatric Medicine, College of Podiatric Medicine from Ohio, and Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine.
DPM also complete a residency to hospital. APMA Board of Podiatric Medical Education has been entrusted with the task of Podiatric Medical Education accreditation by the Department American education. To get admission in one of seven accredited podiatric schools one must take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Residency programs as well as podiatric medical boards are both supported by the Council.
The Foundation Educational APMA also provides scholarships for prospective DPMs, each year and also helps to fund programs aimed at raising awareness and the ankle. The scholarship funds contribute about $ 1,000 to approximately 134 students each, annually. A total revenue of $ 142,000 is also helped by the fund each year and is responsible for the contribution of approximately $ 1 million to help nearly 1000 medical doctors Podiatric prospectively.
Third or fourth year, students from one of seven accredited colleges and selected by the College Scholarship and Student Loan Committee, based on various factors such as academic achievement, leadership qualities, participation podiatric community and financial need, etc.
There are many ailments that effect the feet, but the two most common are athlete's foot and onions.

Another foot is the common onion disease, enlargement of the metatarsophalangeal (MTO) join, located at the base of the big toe. Symptoms include swelling, redness, corns, and irritation also accompanied by abnormal forces placed on the tendons and joints of the foot. It is treated mainly by the spacing of the inflammatory and stick your foot in a good position. The anti-inflammatory drugs, ultrasound treatment and cortisone injections are also prescribed to relieve pain and swelling.
