In the last two days I have diagnosed several cases of arthritis in the foot. You may think that arthritis in the foot is a rare problem, but since there are many joints in the foot is a great place for that to happen.
Over 30 million Americans suffer from arthritis in all parts of their body while Adults are the main victims of the disease, children may have this condition as well. Arthritis means that the cartilage and lining of your joints are swollen and inflamed.
Like your hands, which have many joints are affected and a common area, the feet have a similar risk, because the number of joints.
There are two types of arthritis: osteoarthritis and rheumatoid rheumotoid. Osteoarthritis is found in many elderly patients, but younger patients may have this condition due to injury or abuse of an individual joint. The cartilage covering the ends of bones begins to wear off especially in weight-bearing bone and often times Spurs thrive in these areas. Inflammation spurs cause pain and swelling.
Rheumatoid arthritis can be found in people of all ages and is a chronic condition. When treating this condition, podiatrists seeking to provide their patients with pain, increase joint movement and improve strength in these areas.
So what can you do if you suffer from arthritis? There are several treatment options depending on the severity of your condition. Many people have made orthotics for their shoes and other host use shoes to relieve much of the pain associated with pain. Sometimes the treatment can be as simple as rest or change in activity, an anti-inflammation, or a medicine against arthritis. A new option for those who suffer from arthritis debilitating ankle implants, which can be customized to fit each patient's foot, sex and type of arthritis in particular. What is important for you to know that there have been many advances in the field of podiatry in the study of arthritis and you do not need suffer!
